Korean Studies
Approved by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Korean Studies was delivered in Hanoi University in September 1997, in which it was taught as an optional subject. In 2002, the Korean Studies Department offered the full-time program and recruited cohort 1. The Korean Studies Department has operated independently.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
LECTURERS
– The Department has 15 lecturers inclusive of 5 experts and 3 visiting lecturers from Korea;
– Lecturers of master and doctoral levels who
STUDENTS
– The Department has over 600 students, among whom 350 are full-time students, 160 working students, and 110 students who choose to learn the Korean language as an optional subject;
– Students have the following resources available to them:
+ 1 Cyber class room with 30 internet PCs
+ 1 online classroom delivered by Korean lecturers
+ 1 cultural room for students’ activities
+ 1 department library with media materials
– Besides activities of the University, the Department’s students also hold and join many annual outdoor activities, such as Freshmen Welcoming Party, Korean cultural festival week, students’ Scientific Research, Department’s Tours, other volunteer activities, etc.
– Students won prizes at the Korean Speaking Contest, Ring the Golden Bell, Korean song singing contest, etc.
– Scholarships have been granted to students by enterprises, such as LOTTE, Samsung, etc. and other short course or full-time course scholarships, etc.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
The Department has tie relations with the following:
– Korean Embassy to Vietnam, Korean Culture Exchange Fund;
– Prestigious Universities, such as Kuynghee University, Aju University, Chung-Ang University, Konkuk University, Kookmin University, Daegu University, Daejeon University, Sookmyung Women’s University, etc.
– Other big enterprises: LOTTE, Samsung, etc.
EMPLOYMENT
Graduate students can work at different roles:
– Assistant, Secretary, Interpreter-Translator in Korean organizations in Vietnam;
– International Officer in Vietnamese organizations;
– Lecturers/teachers of Korean language in universities, colleges, language centers, etc.
– Tour guides in Vietnamese or Korean tourist companies, etc.
