BACHELOR PROGRAMS

Hanoi University has grown to become the cradle of foreign language teaching in Vietnam and has been highly regarded for its foreign language degrees for more than 50 years. Besides its renowned bachelor programs of foreign language, the university has also provided six full-time English-medium bachelor programs, which is considered a progressive direction to meet the society’s demand for human resources with high competencies in both professional practices and foreign language. 

Since Hanoi University is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam to provide bachelor training programs, it has trained tens of thousands
of graduates, serving the human resource demand for the country’s development and integration. The number of offered Bachelor programs has increased from 4 to 17 bachelors, including 11 language degree programs of English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Vietnamese language and culture, and 6 English-medium degree programs of Business Management, Tourism Management, Finance and Banking, Accounting, International Studies and Information Technology.

Hanoi University is not only the top choice of Vietnamese students but also the destination of many international students. International students can choose
to enroll in Bachelor of Vietnamese language and culture at Vietnamese Studies Department or in other interested bachelor programs. High competencies in subject knowledge and foreign languages in the face of global competition increases students’ self-confidence. After the 4-year intensive training in an innovative and friendly environment of Hanoi University, graduates have a strong professional knowledge and are proficient users of foreign languages and information technology, which enable them to find jobs without difficulty. They have opportunities to work at either international bodies of Vietnamese agencies or international organizations as well as teaching foreign languages at schools and universities.

POST GRADUATE PROGRAMS

In 1992 when being authorized by the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam to provide post-graduate programs, Hanoi University was prompted to build teaching staff and equip facilities to prepare for the first enrollment in 1993. The department of post-graduate studies is the one responsible for implementing the post-graduate training at Hanoi University. In the first enrollment year, provided programs were master of Russian studies and master of French studies. After more than 20 years of development, the number of provided programs has increased to 6 master programs including Russian, English, French, Japanese and Chinese studies as well as business administration and 2 doctoral programs including French and Russian studies.

The departments of postgraduate studies’ teaching staff are experts in foreign language, foreign literature, and foreign language teaching methodology. Most of
the lecturers own doctoral degrees and many of them are associate professors. Some lecturers have been teaching at international universities within the framework of the articulation programs between Hanoi University and international partners.

Throughout 21 cohorts, thousands of masters and doctors have been trained, providing the society with high-quality human resources. Graduates can work as foreign language instructors, translators – interpreters and foreign language and culture researchers, etc.

DOCTORAL PROGRAMS

Major: French studies, Russian studies

Duration: 3 continuous years for masters or 4 continuous years for the Bachelor.

Program:

Year 1:

– 03 supplementary study units (9 credits)

– 03 papers

– Literature review

Year 2:

– Publish 02 articles in specialist journals

– Participate in 02 domestic and international seminars.

– Write the doctoral thesis.

Year 3:

– Complete the doctoral thesis and all necessary requirements for its defense

– Defense the doctoral thesis at the local and state level.    

MASTER’S PROGRAMS

Major: English Studies, French Studies, Russian Studies, Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies.

Duration: 2 years

Program: 40 credits

Year 1

– Complete 28 credits of foundation subjects (Philosophy, Second foreign language) and basic and specialized technical education subjects.

Year 2:

– Write and defense the master thesis (12 credits).
