French Studies
The French Studies Department was founded in 1967. Since then, the Department has been striving to prove its importance.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
LECTURERS
– The department has 27 contracted and guest lecturers inclusive of 2 associate professors, 8 doctors, 8 researchers, 7 master-holders, and 4 bachelor-holders, all whom, received education in prestigious universities in France, Belgium, and Canada;
– The Department has participated in training courses offered by l’Institut Français de Hanoï – L’Espace, Le Centre de Formation Continue en Français de Spécialité (CFC), Le Centre de Formation d’Interprètes et deTraducteurs (CFIT), Television French Studies, etc.
– Local and international science has been carried as research projects including 2 international research projects, 2 ASEAN projects, 5 Ministerial projects, 20 university projects.
STUDENTS
► There are 16 classes of 400 students in a Bachelor program:
– Bachelor of French studies (Interpreting -Translation)
– Bachelor of French studies (program for talented students) (Interpreting -Translation)
► 200 students of short courses prior to overseas studies granted by the Vietnamese National Budget (Project 322)
► Facilities for students inclusive of the followings
– Media room: almost 5,000 books/materials, electronic pads, head-projector supported by the French Television TV5;
– Wallonie-Bruxelles Center and self-study room: almost 4,000 books/materials, media materials, 10 internet PCs, digital materials, head-projector supported by the Belgian partner
► Students are active at different events, such as the Christmas Music Show, freshmen welcoming ceremony, singing contests, French International Day, etc.
► Many students of outstanding results have successfully applied for scholarship programs: 4 scholarships of interpreting-translation in Belgium, 5 scholarships of 3-month tourism internship in France, 1 first prize at the Allons-en-France Contest, etc.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
– The Department has partnerships with Embassies of Belgium, France, Canada, Sweden, AUF, OIF;
– French and Belgian Universities and Institutes (Tour, Cergy, Pontoise, Louvain), Liberal Institute Marie Haps (ILMH);
– Annual exchange student programs with Sherbrooke College (Canada) and The University of Rangsit (Thailand).
EMPLOYMENTS
Students of proficient French can be employed with:
– Officials of local and international Foreign Affairs Divisions;
– Interpreters-Translators, Secretary, Assistant for international representative offices/enterprises, such as Alcatel, K+, Big C, Air France;
– Tour guides;
– Lecturers of French Studies in universities or colleges;
– Officers of local or central new agents.
