On June 16, 2017, President Nguyen Dinh Luan received Mr. Gianluca Fiume, President and CEO of Piaggio Vietnam, and regional manager of Piaggio in Asia-Pacific.  On this occasion, there is also a visit of Mr. Pham Hong Quan, Piaggio Asia Pacific Regional Human Resources Manager.
President Nguyen Dinh Luan welcomed General Director Gianluca Fiume to visit the University and appreciated the new General Director of Piaggio Company’s interest for the University in general and the Department of Italian Studies in particular. The President took this occasion to introduce Mr. Gianluca Fiume about the University and potential for collaboration between two sides. These collaborative potentials shall not only gain the attention of students of the Department of Italian Studies but also others students of the University.
The President expressed his appreciation to Piaggio Vietnam for always accompanying and supporting the activities of the University’s Department of Italian Studies and Italian learners since its inception in Vietnam. Annually, Piaggio welcomes 2- 3 Italian learners from Hanoi University to visit the factory and provide internship and recruitment opportunities, supporting cultural activities on the occasion of the annual Italian Language and Culture Week held at the University. More than 10 Italian graduates have been working at the Piaggio company since then, and two of whom are CEO’s assistants.
For his part, the President invited the General Director to speak and share experiences with the students of the department of Italian Studies (annually the Italian Faculty organizes a series of seminars to exchange with Italian businesses) to students of English-medium programs, especially of International Studies.
In addition, the President also suggested Piaggio Company to create more opportunities for students of Hanoi University by scholarships, internship opportunities, recruitment, … besides supporting for commemoration activities under the 15 years of establishment of the Department of Italian Studies such as the project of setting up the Italian Cultural Environment at Hanoi University, the international conference on teaching Italian in Southeast Asia, …
In May 2017, Piaggio Group officially appointed Mr. Gianluca Fiume as President and General Director of Piaggio Vietnam and Vice President of Asia Pacific Group. The appointment is part of the Group’s strategy to consolidate and structure operations in Asia. The Hanoi University hopes that Gianluca Fiume will promote the good cooperation between the University and Piaggio in the future.
