Spanish Studies
The Spanish Studies Department founded in 2004 from a Spanish Division has been the University’s new department, aiming to meet a demand for learning the Spanish Language and Culture in Vietnam. The Department strives hard to provide quality Spanish education for its students.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
LECTURERS
– The Department has 11 permanent and visiting lecturers, among whom one is a native lecturer;
– The Faculty staff are young, dynamic, and committed to their pedagogical career;
– The majority of the local lecturers received education in Spain or Mexico.
STUDENTS AND ACTIVITIES
– The Department has 190 full time students;
– Students are active in outdoor activities such as Latin Music Night, New Year welcoming, talks on Spanish speaking countries and people, drama courses in Spanish, Language Festival Day, etc.
– Through the Cervantes Office, students have chances to enhance their language and cultural proficiency, as long as they seek scholarship opportunities;
– Students can seek for under or post-graduate scholarship chances in Spain or Spanish speaking countries.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
The Department has partnerships with:
– Embassies of Spanish speaking countries in Vietnam, such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Panama, Spain, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela;
– Tourist companies, NGOs (CODESPA, AIDA Pazy Desarrollo), Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID);
– Student Exchange programs with the University of Alcalá, the University of Santiago de Compostela, etc.
EMPLOYMENT
– Graduate students can work as interpreters, translators, secretaries, assistants, tour guides, tour managers, lecturers/teachers of Spanish, International Officer, etc.
– Jobs can be employed by the followings:
+ Embassies of Spanish speaking countries in Vietnam, or Vietnamese Embassy to Spanish speaking countries;
+ International Relations Department of the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment, Ministry of Commerce, etc.
+ NGOs, foreign projects or companies relating to Spanish speaking countries;
+ Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, others;
+ Tourist companies such as Aurora, Vietnam Tourism, Buffalo, etc.
