Russian Studies
The Russian Studies Department was founded in 1959, the same year of Hanoi University’s establishment. Before 1990, the Russian language was taught in Russian Student Department and In-service Department.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
LECTURERS
– The Department has 20 permanent lecturers and 3 visiting lecturers of whom one lecturer is Russian;
– The majority of lecturers were educated in the Russian Federation, 19 out of 20 lecturers possess at least Master Degrees; among whom, 8 lecturers possess Doctor Degrees and 2 are Associate Professors.
STUDENTS
– The Department has 15 classes with about 300 full-time students;
– Students engage in activities and talent contests, such as the Freshmen Welcoming Ceremony, Russian Culture Festival Week, Campus Star Contest, Green Summer, etc.
– Awards and scholarships from Russian universities have been won by students;
– Students have also won awards for “Students’ Scientific Research” or “Young Scientific Talent” held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi University;
– Scholarships granted to students studying in Russian universities have also been awarded to HANU students of Russian Studies; besides, they are granted other scholarships such as Global Corporation (Japan), Terufumi Nozawa – Nghiêm Việt Hương, Students Win Poor Destiny, etc.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
– The Department has tie relations and exchanges with Russian Departments of other universities in the world, such as the University of Trieste, the University of Naples (Italy), the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute (the Russian Federation);
– Additionally, students who complete their first academic year have chances of full scholarships to the Russian Federation granted by the Vietnamese Government. Students completing their two first years have opportunities to take the one-year scholarship courses to the Russian Federation granted by the Vietnamese Government as well.
EMPLOYMENT
After graduation, students are expected to have good background and skills to work at different areas, such as:
– Interpreting – Translation, lecturers of Russian Studies, officials, secretary/assistant, etc;
– Officers of Embassies, foreign organization, or NGOs;
– Reporters at news agencies;
– Tourists
