Hanoi University and The Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation increase bilateral relations.
On March 31, 2017, President Nguyen Dinh Luan received Mr. Shigeyuki Daimon – Secretary General, The Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation (Japan) to Hanoi University. Coming at the event, there are the presence of representatives of the International Office and Vietnam-Japan Coooperation and Development Center.
Founded in 1988, “The Matsushita International Foundation” was established with the awareness that the internationalization of Japan was an urgent task and in 2010, The Matsushita International Foundation merged with The K. Matsushita Foundation of EXPO ’90 and changed the foundation’s name to The Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation. Since then, the Foundation aims to promote exchanges between Japan and other countries, contributing to the innovation of the world’s culture and the peace of humanity. The Foundation sponsors academic and exchange activities, research project, domestic and international cooperation in terms of economy, culture, society, education, and heritage preservation.
On August 2015, the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation and Hanoi University have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on financially sponsoring students of the Japanese Studies Department to participate in the Study Tour Program in Japan. Since then, there are two programs have been conducted with the amount of funding for each program is JPY 2 million.
At the reception, President Nguyen Dinh Luan hight appreciated the significance of the program in enhancing students’ understanding of Japanese culture, country, and people. Besides, this is also a great opportunity for them to practice and improve their Japanese language skills.
On behalf of the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation, Mr. Shigeyuki Daimon expressed his gratefulness to President Nguyen Dinh Luan for his contribution in facilitating the cooperation between two sides. The Secretary General hopes that the students, who will be nominated to receive to scholarship, will serve as a bridge to strengthen the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Japan. “In 2017, the Foundation will continue to provide funding for the scholarship program so that it can spread to more students”, said the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation’s representative.
President Nguyen Dinh Luan appreciated the activities of the Konusha Matsushita Memorial Fund and thanked the Fund for its contribution to improving the quality of education.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of the two sides agreed to strengthen and promote stronger cooperation in the coming time.
