President Nguyen Dinh Luan Receives Thai Ambassador To Vietnam
On June 23rd, 2016, President Nguyen Dinh Luan had a courtesy meeting with H.E Manopchai Vongphakdi – Thai Ambassador to Vietnam at Hanoi University.
At the reception, President Nguyen Dinh Luan showed his congratulations to H.E Manopchai Vongphakdi on his appointment as Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam and expected H.E Manopchai Vongphakdi will promote vigorously the bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam in general and Hanoi University in particular.
The President praised the bilateral ties that are growing in all fields, particularly in education. In recent years, there is an unceasing increase in not only the demand for learning Thai language but also in the number of Thai student learning Vietnamese at Hanoi University, with the peak of more than 180 Thai students and researchers at some point.
At the meeting, President Nguyen Dinh Luan also shared the strategic plan in developing Thai Language Studies at Hanoi University, with the goal to establish Bachelor’s degree program in the Thai language in the upcoming time. The University expressed the hope to receive close collaboration and support from H.E in fostering the development of Thai Language Studies in the University.
For his part, Thai Ambassador Manopchai Vongphakdi expressed his sincere gratefulness to President Nguyen Dinh Luan, pledging to do his utmost to nurture the bilateral ties between Thailand and Hanoi University during his tenure in Vietnam.
On this occasion, he also decided to grant US$ 21.000 in aid for the University to implement the Thailand – Vietnam Youth Exchange Project. “This is the 8th project since its establishment and it will continue to be organized annually in years to come”, according to H.E Manopchai Vongphakdi.
Thai Ambassador Manopchai Vongphakdi officially assumed his duty as Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam since May 2016. A series of master plans and activities are being discussed and undertaken to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
