President of Hanoi University received the visit of Limoges University (France) to discuss cooperation possibility
On 11/11/2022, the delegation of the University of Limoges (France) including Rector Isabelle Klock-Fontanille and Vice Rector in charge of International Relations Laurent Bourdier visited and worked at Hanoi University. President Nguyen Van Trao, Vice President Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, and representatives of the French Department and the International Office attended and worked with the delegation.
President Trao extended his warmest welcome to the leaders of Limoges University. Limoges University has various programs in the fields of social sciences and humanities, business administration, etc. which are suitable for the training disciplines of Hanoi University. To help the delegation better understand about Hanoi University, President Nguyen Van Trao briefly shared some basic information about the University. Hanoi University has the total number of approximately 17,000 students, 21 majors (including 11 languages). The University has nearly 400 foreign partners and has been conducting multiple international projects as a regional coordinator. The President expressed his wish that the two universities could consider cooperation in several areas, such as exchange of lecturers and students, the 2+2 training program, transfer of doctoral students, and the sharing of knowledge and skills.
Rector Klock-Fontanille thanked Hanoi University for the thoughtful welcome given to the delegation. Rector Klock-Fontanille shared that the University of Limoges has established its partnership with two universities in Vietnam. She knows about Hanoi University through other colleagues and partners, so she hopes the two institutions can establish a cooperative relationship with Hanoi University. She also shared information about the University of Limoges as a multidisciplinary training school with many fields such as health, science and technology, economics, law, social sciences and humanities… The school has about 19,000 students, of which 12% are international students study from the bachelor’s to doctoral levels (a higher rate than the average in France). At the University of Limoges, there are a number of students and lecturers who are Vietnamese, but mainly in the field of technology. Therefore, through the meeting with Hanoi University, Rector Klock-Fontanille expressed her wish to cooperate with Hanoi University in the field of social sciences and humanities, and cooperation in scientific research.
After the meeting, Vice Rector Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, Dean of the French Department Tran Van Cong, Vice Dean of the French Department Nguyen Thu Hien and Head of the Tourism Department Do Quynh Huong had concrete discussion on cooperation possbilities, such as the Erasmus+ KA2 capacity building project funded by the European Union, cooperating with the language and civilization research lab to deploy research projects, exchanges of lecturers and students. Both universities hope to sign a Memorandum of Understanding soon to realize above programs and activities.
