Broadmoor, CIEE and Speedwing Asia visit Hanoi University and conduct interviews with students of Tourism and Hotel Management
On February 27, 2023, delegations of US organizations and businesses visited and worked at Hanoi University, inlcuding the Broadmoor – US Hosting Employer, represented by Mr. Alejandro Gavino Ambriz – International Human Resources Director and Mr. Jake Zubrod – Restaurant Director, Ms. Emily Kathryn Howell – Director of Career Exchange Program, Committee for International Education Exchange, Ms. Marina Seet – Director, and Ms. Vernie Chen – Assistant Director, Speedwing Asia – a partner of CIEE and Broadmoor. From Hanoi University, President Nguyen Van Trao, and the representatives from the International Office and the Faculty of Management and Tourism attended the meeting.
At the meeting, President Trao welcomed the delegation to visit Hanoi University at this time of spring, the season of blossoming, which means ones have a lot of energy to study and work. President Trao shared that in 2019, Hanoi University had 07 students who passed the interview round, resulting in their opportunities to participate in an internship in one of the prestigious hotels of the world. The President recognizes the big advantages of intern students after the professional training and working there in Broadmoor. In addition to internships, students also participate in training programs for personal development. Participating in the program has given the University’s students the opportunity to study, practice, work in a native English environment, and experience a multicultural setting. The President affirmed that the program is a good opportunity for lecturers and students of the University in establishing a network, connecting opportunities for learners and updating the curriculum to be more diverse and practical.
After 2019, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the program for students of Hanoi University to practice at The Broadmoor hotel system was temporarily interrupted. In 2022 the program restarts with 16 fourth-year students and first-year graduates returning to practice at Broadmoor. In 2023, 8 students passed the satisfactory interviews and prepared to go to Broadmoor.
According to the representative of the Faculty of Business Administration and Tourism, one of the first students to participate in the internship program at The Broadmoor was Dao Anh Duc – an alumnus of the Department of Tourism cohort 2016 – 2020 felt grateful for the internship program at the Broadmoor. Having practical experience at Broadmoor helped Duc develop his professional career, won the First Prize of Vietnam’s Best Sommelier and the Runner-up of Asia in 2022.
As discussed at the meeting, in 2023, the internship program at the Broadmoor is still being implemented. Each intern lasts for about 12 months, students can apply for the 2nd or 3rd time to have further chances to practice their professional performance at Broadmoor. The interviewers, in this visit, expected to interview up to 40 students in the afternoon after the presentation session in the morning.
The Broadmoor is a 5-star hotel and resort complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA) built around Cheyenne artificial lake, overlooking the majestic and famous Rocky Mountains. The Broadmoor has a system of rooms, golf course, tennis court, swimming pool, spa, restaurant, shopping mall… providing hundreds of services. Every year, the Broadmoor welcomes a large number of students from many countries around the world to come and work as interns.
