Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam visits Hanoi University
HANU – On January 3, 2019, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam – Lianys Torres Rivera and Mr. Maiker Comendador Escalante, Head of the Consul Office visited Hanoi University. Attending the reception was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Trao – President of Hanoi University, Directors of International Office, Academic Affairs Department and Dean of Spanish Studies Department.
At the meeting, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Van Trao welcomed Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera and members of the delegation to visit Hanoi University and congratulated the Republic of Cuba on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of independence.
With a long-established friendship and cooperation between the two nations, President Nguyen Van Trao believes that this bond will contribute to the flourishing relationship between the peoples of Vietnam – The Cuban. Many students from both sides have been given the opportunities to take part in student exchange programmes, contributing to diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Every year, the Embassy receives many students from the Spanish Studies Department of Hanoi University to work and participate in internship programmes. In order to increase the capacity of the Embassy’s staff, Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera proposed to Principal Nguyen Van Trao to receive and support Embassy staff in attending interpreting and translation courses at the Spanish Studies Department.
In response to Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera’s request, President Nguyen Van Trao accepted this offer and committed that the university will create a favourable learning environment for learners from the Embassy so that they can have an effective learning experience at Hanoi University. Furthermore, the University also seeks to receive the support from the Embassy in connecting Hanoi University with partner universities in Cuba, facilitating the cooperation, learning, teaching and research activities of Hanoi University and its partners. At the same time, Hanoi University also expressed the hope that the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba to continue to receive more intern students from the University to work at the Embassy in the coming years.
