Hanoi University attended the seminar “International integration in education and training”
HANU – Following up the 2021 work plan of the National Council of Education and Human Resources Development, the Workshop “International integration in education and training” was organized by the standing agency of the Council of the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of December 28, 2021 in both face-to-face and online modes, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc. The seminar organized aimed for exchanges and discussions on relevant solutions needed for promotion of international integration in the field of education and training.
Participants of the workshop included members of the National Council of Education and Human Resource Development, representatives of departments under the Ministry of Education and Training, experts, scientists, and leaders of the departments of education and higher education institutions. As a representative of Hanoi University, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan, Director of International Office attended the workshop.
Upon delivering a speech at the workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that international integration in education and training is an important content in the policy of the Party and State. Innovation of education and training is considered to have five constructs: modernization, democratization, socialization, standardization and international integration. It shows international integration is one of the important tasks and solutions towards development of education and training.
As the presentation reported, agencies and organizations are racing to find personnel with good expertise and necessary skills, aiming to bring competitiveness to those organizations, especially in the context of globalization of the 21st century. These personnel are required to work in a multicultural environment and to be fluent in foreign languages. This requires universities to strive to equip students with the necessary skills so that graduates can be ready to enter the competitive international labor market. Training organization and management of universities are, therefore, transforming towards increasing levels of internationalization, and one of the main pillars in the internationalization strategy is to increase exchanges of students.
The presentation clarified the concept of international student exchange, relevant trends and forms of exchange; pros and cons of the mobility programs as perceived by learners and educational institutions. The presentation also shared practical experiences of Hanoi University and proposed recommendations on possible solutions and policies at various levels, aiming to enhance international student exchange at other higher education institutions in nationwide.
