President Nguyen Van Trao receives the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Vietnam
This afternoon, October 20, 2021, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Vietnam Patricio Arturo Becker paid a visit to Hanoi University. President Nguyen Van Trao and leaders of the International Office, the Spanish Studies Department welcomed the Ambassador in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
President Nguyen Van Trao expressed his honor to welcome Ambassador Patricio Arturo Becker to visit Hanoi University and sent to the Ambassador his best wishes for health amid the current complicated epidemic situation. The President hoped that during his term, the Ambassador would actively support the activities of the Spanish Studies Department of Hanoi University.
Thanks to the great support of the Embassy of Chile, the Spanish Studies Department of Hanoi University has become a channel that contributes to promoting diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile, introducing Spanish culture and language to the Vietnamese people.
On the occasion of Ambassador Patricio Arturo Becker’s visit to the University, President Nguyen Van Trao would like to thank and wish that the Ambassador, as well as the Embassy of Chile, would actively support the University in connecting universities in Chile with Hanoi University to create more learning opportunities for teachers and students in the University; organizing seminars and exchanges for students of the Spanish Studies Department in particular, creating favourable conditions for students of the Spanish Studies Department to do their internship at the Embassy; and dispatching experts to teach Spanish at Hanoi University.
Ambassador Patricio Arturo Becker was touched by the warm welcome from Hanoi University to the delegation. The Ambassador affirmed that Hanoi University is one of the important partners of the Chilean Embassy. Therefore, the Embassy is always ready to receive students of Hanoi University to do their internship here. The Embassy is always ready to act as a bridge between Hanoi University and universities in Chile. During his tenure, the Ambassador wishes to cooperate with the Spanish Studies Department of Hanoi University more to promote this foreign language learning in Vietnam. The Embassy is also ready to organize seminars and talks for students at Hanoi University to help students gain a deeper insight into the country and people of Chile. At the same time, the Ambassador also wished that on this occasion, he could further promote and tighten the relationship between universities in Vietnam and universities in Chile through graduate scholarship programs.
The Ambassador said that Chile has two authors who won the Nobel Prize for literature, however, the number of literary works such as poetry, novels of Chile translated into Vietnamese is limited. Therefore, Ambassador Patricio Arturo Becker wished that Hanoi University could introduce people who are good at Spanish and experienced to translate Chilean literary works and introduce them to the public in Vietnam.
The year 2021 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile, but due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, commemorative activities cannot be carried out. The Ambassador hopes that in the future if commemorative events are held, the Embassy can work with Hanoi University on various areas to celebrate this important event.
