Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam paid a visit to Hanoi University
HANU – On the morning ò July 1, 2021, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén paid a visit to Hanoi University. President Nguyen Van Trao together with leaders of International Ofice, Department of Spanish Studies attended the reception.
Ambassador Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén said this was the first higher education institution the ambassador visited in Vietnam. The Ambassador was very pleased with the results Cuban students have learned and gained from studying at Hanoi University. Currently, there are 9 Cuban students studying at the University. The Ambassador said that in order to develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, it is necessary to have a lot of people who are knowledgeable about Vietnamese language and culture, those shall act as a bridge to connect the two nations. The Cuban Ambassador and Embassy themselves are ready to support, support and create conditions to connect Hanoi University with universities in Cuba.
Responding to the ambassador, President Nguyen Van Trao also expressed this gratitude to the Cuban embassy for his support. The President knew that among the 9 Cuban students studying at the University, besides students majoring in Vietnamese language, there are also students studying other majors such as English. The President highly appreciates Cuban students for their hard work in studying and participating in joint activities. Hanoi University has many lecturers who have studied in Cuba, so although the two countries Vietnam – Cuba are very far apart in terms of geographical distance, they are very close to each other.
Spanish has been taught at Hanoi University since the 80s for students studying abroad in Cuba. In September 2002, the Department of Spanish Studies was established at Hanoi University to meet the needs of learning Spanish language and culture in Vietnam.
