Vice President Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong receives Professor Gilles Forlot Vice Rector of the Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO)
HANU – On December 16, 2019, Professor Gilles Forlot – Vice Rector in charge of international cooperation Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations – INALCO (France) had a working trip at Hanoi University, Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong – Vice President of Hanoi University and leaders of International Office, French Studies Department joined the reception.
INALCO was established in 1975, teaching and researching 103 languages around the world, including the Vietnamese. Currently, there are about 40 French students studying Vietnamese at the Institute for bachelor’s degree.
The two sides have established a good cooperative relationship since May 2014. From 2016 to now, INALCO has admitted 10 students of the Department of French Studies of Hanoi University to exchange and study French every year. In the academic year 2019-2020, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies has also admitted 01 student of INALCO for the exchange program.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of renewing the cooperation agreement in the coming time. Hanoi University proposed INALCO to increase the number of exchange students from 10 to 15 students/year, of which 10 students are exempted from tuition and 5 students enjoy 50% of tuition incentives. Students from Hanoi University who come to INALCO can learn French and foreign languages taught here such as Japanese and Korean. If one reaches the level of French DELF B2, C1, they can choose subjects such as International Trade, Diplomacy, Intercultural Communication … Besides, Hanoi University proposed INALCO to accept students of Business Communication major (teaching in French) from the University to its exchange programs.
According to INALCO, in the context when France is increasing tuition for foreign students, though Institute committed in the 2019-2020 academic year will keep the enrollment fee of 270 euros for students of Hanoi University to study exchange.
