University of Hanoi and Karlova University, Czech Republic establishe cooperative relations
On June 25, 2019, President of Karlova University, Mr. Tomáš Zima visited and worked with Hanoi University, joining the event, there was also the presence of Czech Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Screwězslav Grepl. President Nguyen Van Trao received Ambassador Screwězslav Grepl and Principal Tomáš Zima.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Trao warmly welcomed Ambassador Screwězslav Grepl and President Tomáš Zima to visit the University and introduced to Ambassador and President Tomáš Zima about Hanoi University, its training programme of the University, especially some new majors that were recently opened according to the needs and demands of the society, including Marketing, Multimedia Communication, which are taught in English, and Business Communication which is taught in French.
Principal Tomáš Zima also introduced some information about his Karlova University and said that Karlova is a multidisciplinary training university, with key disciplines such as biotechnology, information technology, social science, education, sports and philosophy sectors. In particular, Karlova also offers language courses of some Asian countries such as Chinese and Vietnamese. The Vietnamese community has a very large population in the Czech Republic, especially the 2nd generation living and studying here. Thus. the University of Karlova looks forward to the opportunity to cooperate with Hanoi University.
With the information that the two universities share, President Nguyen Van Trao proposed some forms of bilateral cooperation such as student, teacher exchange program, 2 + 2 training model under the sponsorship of Erasmus scholarships, etc.
In addition, Ambassador Screwězslav Grepl proposed that the two universities are able to implement the Czech language teaching program, supported by the Czech Embassy in Vietnam. According to the Ambassador, at present, Hanoi University is preparing to set the Polish language into teaching as a second language, thus, Vietnamese students can have the opportunity to study and work in the Czech Republic.
President Nguyen Van Trao welcomed the Ambassador’s proposal and said that Hanoi University is willing to collaborate to implement this programme. Accordingly, the two sides can appoint experts to work at Hanoi University, jointly develop training programs at different levels and teach pilots to consider its effectiveness before becoming an official training program.
Ambassador Screwězslav Grepl emphasized that with the population of 100,000 Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic, language and education will be a bridge to help many Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic understand their tradition. as well as help Czech students have the opportunity to learn and explore Vietnamese culture.
