Hanoi University welcomes new Mozambican Ambassador to Vietnam
On Feb 2, 2019, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Trao – President of Hanoi University received Mozambican Ambassador to Vietnam Leonardo Rosario Manuel Pene on the occasion his recent commencement of the Ambassador’s mission in Vietnam.
At the meeting, President Nguyen Van Trao expressed his sincere appreciation to the Mozambique Embassy in Vietnam as well as the previous leaders who have constantly supported and accompanied HaNU in the Portuguese teaching. He also expressed his hope that the Ambassador will continue to pay special attention to the Portuguese subject in general and to the students in particular to encourage the teaching and learning activities of HaNU.
With regard to the Portuguese department and its teaching activities, Dr. Nguyen Van Trao informed that the university has been teaching Portuguese since 2004 and has increasingly attracted the interest of students inside and outside the university. The number of students enrolled in the Department increases every year. Currently, the Portuguese speaking community is very developed in Vietnam.
In response, Ambassador Leonardo Pene affirmed that Vietnam and Mozambique are in good relation, during the war of national liberation to multi-area cooperation particularly in the field of education. The Ambassador highly appreciated Hanoi University in its efforts to teach Portuguese language and its position as a bridge for bilateral relations. Mr. Leonardo Pene is pleased to know that the community of Vietnamese people living and working in Mozambique is growing rapidly, which means that there are more opportunities for Vietnamese to approach and practice Portuguese.
Also in the meeting, two sides have exchanged some contents on strengthening cooperation and promoting bilateral relations during the tenure of Ambassador Leonardo Rosario Manuel Pene to Vietnam.
