Closing Ceremony for Vietnamese short-term training programme for international students
HANU – On the 7th of January 2019, the closing ceremony for the short-term Vietnamese language course was held for international students of Vietnamese Studies Department. Attending the meeting was Dean of Vietnamese Studies – Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan; Director of International Office – Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tan; along with leaders representing faculties, departments and many students of the university.
After the training course which lasted from three to five months, 36 students have successfully completed the basic Vietnamese course. Those include 29 Chinese students and 07 international students from Korea, Laos and Japan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan said: “This course aims to improve learners’ language skills and their knowledge about Vietnamese culture and tradition. Twenty-nine students from Guangxi Pingxiang South East Foreign Languages School were given a training course in enhancing their speaking, writing and reading skills with hands-on experience in an international environment where Vietnamese is used as a mean of communication. With great effort, 26 over 29 students from Guangxi Pingxiang South East Foreign Languages School, together with other seven students from other countries, achieved distinction and excellent results.”
On behalf of all international students, Ly Ai Mai expressed her sincere gratitude to the teachers of the Vietnamese Studies Department : “I still remember the first day I went to school, I was worried and did not dare to talk to Vietnamese friends, but thanks to the encouragement and support of my teachers, I gradually got used to the new environment and started to love the language and lifestyle here. Thanks to the rich and diverse activities organised by the Vietnamese Studies Department, it has helped us to better understand the customs and tradition of Vietnamese people and now I can confidently talk in Vietnamese to my friends. I will always be thankful for the guidance and support that I have received from teachers and friends at the Department.”
Last year, the Department of Vietnamese Studies has received more than 500 international students attending short-term training courses, contributing to the total number of 800 international students of the university. This is also the second time in this year, the university holds the closing ceremony for students of short-term training courses.
