Chairman of Japan Sendai University visits and establishes the cooperation with Hanoi University
HANU – On 4 January 2019, Mr. Taiji Hozawa, Chairman of Sendai University, Japan visited and worked with Hanoi University. At the reception, Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong – Vice President of Hanoi University, Directors of the International Office, Academic Affairs Department, and Dean of Japanese Studies Department received the delegation.
At the meeting, Mr. Taiji Hozawa expressed his pleasure that the cooperation between Hanoi University and Japan Association of Private Universities have gained significant achievements over the last few years, thanks to the contribution of Mr. Hidebumi Koide – Former Chairman of the Association. Thus, this visit expects to strengthen the cooperation between two sides in general, and between Sendai University (as a member of the Association) and Hanoi University in particular.
Currently, 80% of students in Japan are studying at private universities, contributing to the total number of 500-600 private universities nationwide. This number is divided into two groups: The first group is the universities established before 1945 (before World War II), and the second group is universities established in 1945 (after World War II) to which Sendai University belongs.
Sendai University is located in the Northern part of Japan, where the climate is characterised by mild year-round weather. As a university that is well-known for its enthusiastic and experienced teaching staff and effective curriculum, Sendai University is an ideal address for international students. Thus, President Taija Hozawa hopes that the two universities may establish good cooperation with each other in the upcoming time.
At the meeting, Vice President Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong also introduced the history and training programmes of the University, affirming that Hanoi University is a prestigious Japanese training university in Vietnam and shortly, the university will promote the development of international exchange programmes as a part of the university’s strategy. Specifically, in the next 2-3 months, the university will have a full legal basis to recruit students to Japan to study abroad. This would be an open door for the cooperation with Japan in general and Sendai University in particular.
The visit of the President of Sendai University to Hanoi University will be the basis for the two sides to discuss and exchange possibilities for cooperation. The two parties agreed to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement in the future.
